Background:
All developed countries are grappling with the impact of inward migration. In Ireland, while various sectors are responding to the needs of migrants, there is still an opportunity to develop a coherent public policy which will serve the economic and cultural needs of this the host country and its migrant people.
To mark 50 years of service by the Irish Chaplaincy in Britain, the Irish Episcopal Commission for Emigrants has organised this conference, which will set migration in a global context and address the challenge now facing Ireland today in terms of our cultural and policy deficits, highlighting in particular the value of a sustainable pastoral care response.
