Bishop Doran to lead Special Blessing of Expectant Families

16 Jun 2016

In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Bishop Kevin Doran invites all expectant mothers and fathers and their wider families to a joyful celebration to pray for their unborn child and to receive a blessing.  During the liturgy, Bishop Kevin will also remember in prayer children who died at any stage during pregnancy and to pray for the protection of our most vulnerable children in the womb.

Speaking about the event entitled When Creation Was Begun, Bishop Doran commented, “To participate in the creative act of God in giving life to a child is a life-changing experience, an enormous privilege and also a big challenge.  As Catholics in the Diocese of Elphin, we gather to support with our prayers parents who are expecting the birth of a child, especially those who face particular challenges, and also those who have lost a child during pregnancy or around the time of birth. Everyone in the diocese, once upon a time, was an unborn child; everyone is invited”.

This special liturgy will take place on Saturday 25 June 2016 at 5.00pm in Saint Joseph’s Church, Boyle, Co Roscommon.  All are very welcome to attend and refreshments will be served afterwards.
