Catholic Church celebrates Day for Life: ‘Listen to Her’

19 Jun 2023

Yesterday in parishes across Ireland – and in Britain – the annual Day for Life was celebrated. Its short message, Listen to Her, has been promoted to protect unborn human life and it focuses on the experience of one Catholic woman “Jane” in the aftermath of abortion.

Jane’s compelling story recounts her journey towards healing and the role of ‘Rachel’s Vineyard’, a healing ministry that provides support for those who are suffering after abortion. The hope is that Jane’s story will help people to listen, to understand and to respond with compassion.

To complement Day for Life 2023, Pope Francis has provided a short message of encouragement wherein he offers a prayer for all expectant mothers and their families. The messages of the Holy Father and the Day for life can be accessed on the homepage of www.councilforlife.ie

People are encouraged, especially young adults, to reflect on their contents and to foster a culture of life throughout Irish society. The annual Rally for Life on 1 July, from the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square, Dublin, offers an opportunity to do this.
