Media arrangements for the Requiem Mass for the late Bishop Edward Daly RIP

10 Aug 2016

The Requiem Mass for the late Bishop Edward Daly RIP, Bishop Emeritus of Derry, will take place at 3.30pm tomorrow Thursday 11 August 2016 in Saint Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry, followed by burial in the Cathedral grounds.  The following arrangements have been put in place by the Diocese of Derry for media representatives wishing to attend and cover this Mass.

Television cameras and live audio feed
Broadcasters can access a television feed of the Mass coverage from an RTÉ unit which will be based on the grounds of the Cathedral.  Please contact RTÉ broadcast coordinator Mr Peter Doherty on +447799535664 in this regard.  A live audio feed will also be available on a special platform for journalists which will be situated on the Cathedral grounds.

Availability of photographs from inside the Cathedral to picture journalists
Due to pressure of space inside the Cathedral, a pooling arrangement will be in place to facilitate print and/or online media.  On behalf of the Diocese of Derry, photographer Mr Lorcan Doherty has permission to work inside the Cathedral during the Mass.  Mr Doherty’s photographs will be available to media for publication, and he can be contacted on [email protected] and +447740662602.

Special area for print and photo journalists
A specially constructed media platform will be available to journalists and this will be based on the Cathedral grounds.

Media Centre
A dedicated room for media, with WiFi, will be open from 1.00pm tomorrow in Saint Eugene’s Primary School which is on the grounds of the Cathedral.  Refreshments will be available.

Parking
In advance of and during the Mass, there will be no car parking available on the Cathedral grounds.
