ON THE DEATH OF PRINCE RAINIER OF MONACO

In a letter to Prince Albert of Monaco, the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate
of All Ireland, Dr Seán Brady, has offered the condolences of the Catholic
Church in Ireland on the death of His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III.

In his letter Archbishop Brady said: “I have learned with great sadness of
the death earlier today of your dear father His Serene Highness Prince Rainier
III.

At this sorrowful time, I wish to express to you, to your sisters Princess
Caroline and Princess Stephanie, to your extended family and to all the
citizens of the principality of Monaco the sincere condolences of the
Catholic Church in Ireland.

The people of Ireland have always been particularly proud of the ancestral
links between your late mother, Princess Grace, and this country, and
consequently the Irish people have always felt a particular affection
for the Grimaldi family and the principality of Monaco.
