Funeral details for the late Dolores O’Riordan RIP

19 Jan 2018

Father James Walton, Parish Priest of Ballybricken & Bohermore, Co Limerick, in the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly, wishes to advise journalists that the Funeral Mass for the late Dolores O’Riordan, late of Ballybricken & Bohermore and Canada and former member of the Cranberries will take place in the Church of Saint Ailbe, Ballybricken, at 11.30am on Tuesday 23 January followed by private family burial.

Chief Celebrant of the Requiem Mass will be Canon Liam McNamara, Associate Pastor (retired parish priest), who is a close friend of the O’Riordan family.  Chief con-celebrants will be Father James Walton PP, Ballybricken & Bohermore, Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly, Archbishop of Cashel & Emly and Archbishop Dermot Clifford, Archbishop Emeritus of Cashel & Emly.

As the church has a limited capacity of only 200 places, attendance is strictly reserved for extended family and close friends.  The church yard covers a small area and is also private property.

Please note also that a public reposal will take place on this Sunday, 21 January, at Saint Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Avenue Limerick, from 12.30pm to 4.00pm.  The remains of the deceased will also repose at Cross’s Funeral Home in Ballyneety, Co Limerick, on Monday 22 January, from 4.00pm followed by removal at 8.00pm to Saint Ailbe’s Church, Ballybricken.

Media
Due to the space limitations, journalists and photographers are asked not to attend inside or outside the church or on its grounds, before or during the Funeral Mass.  A designated area for media will be reserved in a field across the narrow road from the church.  A public address system will be set up to facilitate mourners and media in attendance.  As Saint Ailbe’s Church is on the bend of a narrow road, parking is very limited and priority will be given to members of the family, relatives and close friends.

When information on the funeral liturgy becomes available, it will be circulated to media by the Catholic Communications Office.  Thank you for your cooperation at this sensitive time.
