We were very saddened to hear of the death of Pope Francis this morning. May he rest in eternal peace. We returned from a family trip to Rome last Monday after five wonderful days celebrating the ‘Jubilee Year of Hope’. We were lucky enough to be in St Peter’s Basilica when Pope Frances made an impromptu appearance in order to visit the tomb of Pope Pius X, and we attended the Mass in St Peter’s Square on Palm Sunday when he also made an unexpected appearance. He will always be remembered as ‘The Pope for the Poor’, ‘The Pastoral Pope’, and the ‘Pope for Peace’. What a wonderful legacy! Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
