Diocesan Jubilee Stories

JUBILEE EPIPHANY – Father Roland Colhoun, Newtownstewart, Co. Tyrone, Diocese of Derry, celebrating the eve of the Epiphany by presenting two antique artefacts to the parish churches. To harmonise with the Magi’s gifts to the Christ Child, two generous individuals made these bestowals upon their churches.  The pitch pine pedestal was donated to St Patrick’s Church, Gortin.  The pedestal originated in the St Louis Convent in Monaghan (1910-2022).  The brass lectern was donated to Saint Eugene’s Church, Glenock.  The lectern originated in a Sligo convent.  The convents closed some years ago and the artefacts became available.

Honouring World Day for Consecrated Life, theme: Pilgrims and Sowers of Hope, Bishop Niall Coll celebrated Mass in Saint Fiacre’s Church, Loughboy, Kilkenny, on Wednesday, 29th January 2025 at 1.00 p.m., acknowledging the invaluable contribution of women and men who have dedicated their lives to God and to His people through religious vocation.
